Equal Pay

Sample Equal Pay Policy

Equal Pay Statement

This organisation supports the principles of equal opporunities in employment and believes that male and female staff, regardless of their ethnicity, age or disability should receive equal pay for the same or broadly similar work, for work rated as equivalent and for work of equal value.

We believe it is in our company's interest and good business practice that pay is awarded fairly and equitably. We believe that we should operate a pay system which is transparent, based on objective criteria and free from gender bias, regardless of race or disability.

We aim to avoid unfair discrimination, to reward fairly the skills, experience and potential of all staff and thereby increase efficiency, productivity and competitiveness and enhance the organisation's reputation and image.

Code of Practice

We will:

  • examine our existing and future practices for all our employees including those on non-standard employment and those on pregnancy and maternity leave.
  • carry out regular monitoring of the impact of our practices.
  • inform employees of how these practices work and how their pay is arrived at.
  • provide training and guidance for managers and supervisory staff involved in decisions about pay and benefits.
  • discuss and agree the equal pay policy with employees, trade unions or staff representatives where appropriate

Pay Review

1. When Undertaking a pay review

  • Produce a breakdown of all employees
e.g. by sex, ethnicity, disability, job title, grade, full or part-time
  • for each element of the pay system
e.g. basic pay, performance pay, occupational pension, company car, other benefits.

2. Identify any elements which may be a source of discrimination, analyse the likely effect of proposed changes, consult employees and set up regular monitoring through management information reports to ensure that discrimination does not recur.
